Ravensden CE Primary Academy

Kingfishers

Teachers: Mrs Heeley and Mrs Tomlinson (part-time) (Maternity Leave) Mr Ashdown (part-time) with Learning Support Assistants Ms Lawton and Mrs Chatterjee.

Currently Kingfishers class has 9 Year 3 and 13 Year 4 pupils.

We look at each child as an individual and try hard to best suit their stage and optimum pace of learning with a personalised approach to their development.

The children have an exciting, ambitious and varied curriculum that builds upon their prior knowledge. We will begin the Autumn term looking at the big question 'Were they really hard times?' when learning about the Victorian era. In Spring we will be exploring 'Into the Unknown' by learning about Antarctica and Ernest Shackleton. In Summer 2024, the children will be learning about the history of Ravensden. We will engage in a number of learning experiences linked to our projects including immersive workshops like a typical Victorian school day, trips out as well as swimming lessons and a residential.

We use high quality texts to develop writing and reading skills as well as White Rose for our Maths Programme alongside TT Rockstars to support fluency in times tables. ( See Curriculum tab).
