Ravensden CE Primary Academy

About Our School

Location and Facilities

Our school enjoys the peaceful, rural surroundings of Ravensden village situated to the east of Bedford within a mile of the outskirts of the town and close to Bedford’s eastern bypass. The school has three classrooms in the main school building each well resourced to facilitate high quality learning opportunities for our children as well a separate, bespoke building for nursery children from 2 to 4 years old. We have our own extensive playing field as well as a playground and a developing outdoor ‘classroom’. All areas are fully accessible to wheelchair users. We have bright modern classrooms equipped with interactive white boards and wireless technology so that all children can use  IT  wherever they are.

Pre-school

We have  our own nursery setting, which we call Ravensden Primary Pre-school, as part of our school. The nursery have  their own facilities and attached outdoor play and learning environment which is NOW in our brand new building ! The new Pre-school building gives us the opportunity to expand our intake of children to 24. At present the sessions are mornings only. Do come and have a look! Children then usually transition into their full-time schooling by joining our Reception class initially afternoons only, as well as continuing their Pre-school morning sessions, building to full days in the September term of the year that they turn 5 years old.

School Aims and Ethos

Children, parents, staff and Governors enjoy the friendly, family ethos of the school within the village of Ravensden. We are committed to working together to offer an enjoyable, happy and safe Christian education that enables our children to achieve their potential in academic, creative and sporting endeavours within our wide and inclusive curriculum. We are active in nurturing and developing our children’s spiritual, social, emotional and leadership skills providing an environment in which our valued, resilient and confident pupils thrive to reach high standards and make excellent progress.

Christian Values

We are a Church of England School with strong links with the local Parish Church. We cherish our children through our Christian, values based culture to help them grow into thoughtful, responsible and empathetic young people. Commitment to a partnership between home and school is of paramount importance for us to work together to promote the best interests of each and every child. We value our close links with the local community and Church. One of our Chairs of Governors is the Reverend Tim Wilson. We work together to organise joint activities that bring close relationships between Church and school.
